EIU Softball With Seven Straight Home Games

After being rain out at Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State, the Panthers will have a seven game home stand opening up with IUPUI. After the doubleheader against IUPUI, Indiana State comes to town for a single game. ISU has only won two of their last eight games.

The Panthers last played Fort Wayne and came away with the 1-0 victory. Softball is currently 5-2 at home. EIU closes out their season with 9 of the last 10 games at home.

EIU Track Places First Eleven Times

EIU men’s and women’s track had eleven first place finishes in the Western Illinois Lee Calhoun Memorial Meet. Riley Kittridge had a pair of first place finishes in throws for the men. Haleigh Knapp and Ashton Wilson swept in high jump.

Darneisha Spann won in 100 meter hurdles and places a time that is fifth on the EIU career list. EIU women also had three more second place finishes. Tori Master also finished second in 400 meter hurdles.

EIU Baseball Finishes Sweep

The Panthers win game 3 to complete the sweep over EKU. EIU lead off hitter Joe Duncan gets on base with a bunt in the 1st inning followed by a Jimmy Govern home run. In the second inning the Panthers add on to their lead with a three run home run by Joe Duncan after both Andrew Curran and Frankie Perrone reach base. EKU rallies back to tie the game in the next three innings.

EKU add some more runs in the 7th inning to make to score in favor of EKU 9-6. Bottom on the 7th Jimmy Govern hits his second home run of the game to tie it at 9-9. Panthers get insurance runs in the 8th inning to take the lead 11-9. Michael Starcevich earned the win pitching in the last three innings for the EIU.
